Welcome to our 18th century watermill estate, set in the 'green heart' of Central Portugal within the beautiful Estrela and Açor mountain ranges. Our holiday apartments lie near the village of Alvoco das Várzeas on the bank of the clear river Alvoco. The Quinta da Moenda is a great starting point for walks and city trips in all seasons from a comfortable and well-equipped apartment.

Each apartment is self-contained with its own front door and facilities, 3 upstairs and 2 downstairs. Imagine yourself sitting on the balcony with a glass of vinho verde and some local Serra da Estrela cheese, overlooking the astonishing valley and listening to the night owl!
Clean and cosy
In wintertime the central heating and your own fireplace keep your apartment warm and comfortable. Firewood is included in the rental price, as well as bed linen and towels. Pool towels are for hire and we have baby cots on request. Wireless internet (WiFi) is available. We can provide you with a starter pack of local products upon arrival.
Your apartment has been cleaned before you arrive. You will find a booklet with information about the enchanting environment, touristic highlights and nice restaurants in the neighbourhood.
Indoors
Each of the five self-catering centrally heated apartments consists of a living room with a fireplace, a dining table, chairs and a large sofa bed which may serve as an extra bed. The bedroom has a double bed, night tables and a ward robe. The fully equipped kitchenette contains a 4 ring gas hob, a fridge/freezer,
a microwave, a toaster and a cupboard with plates, cups, glasses etc.. The bathroom contains a bath and a shower, a toilet, a bidet and a lavabo. Our own well provides drinking water.
The apartments in detail
Apartment 1 is a studio for 2 persons with a double bedroom/dining area; the surface is ± 22 m2. The bathroom with a shower is built into the side of a mountain rock making it a very attractive feature.
Apartment 2 has a living room and a bedroom with a double bed and a bunk bed; it is suitable for 2, 4 or 6 persons. The surface is ± 40 m2.
The apartment is on the ground floor, overlooking the patio and the swimming pool.
Apartment 3 has a living room, a bedroom with a double bed and an extra bedroom with a bunk bed; it is suitable for 2, 4 or 6 persons. The surface is ± 44 m2.
The apartment is on the first floor; the balcony overlooks the mountains and the main house.
Apartments 4 and 5 are 'mirrored', as it were. They both have a living room and a bedroom with a double bed; it is suitable for 2 or 4 persons. The surface is ± 37 m2.
The common balcony offers a great view on the swimming pool the patio and the river.
