We are Hans de Herder and Josephine van Bennekom, your hosts. In 2005 we emigrated from Holland to the green heart of Portugal. We were overwhelmed by the beauty of the Beiras region and his hospitable inhabitants. We invite you to enjoy the pleasures of our small holiday resort.

In Holland we worked as a conservator (Hans) and as a free-lance journalist (Josephine). The Quinta da Moenda gave us a welcoming feeling when we first encountered it. Our picturesque, historic estate, constructed from local stone which has mellowed with age, lies at 300 metres above sea level and dates from the C18th. Newly renovated and retaining many original features, it consists of two old watermills, an olive press and a distillery. The olive mill is now a beautiful family home and the distillery has been converted into five charming holiday apartments.
The swimming pool, the patio and the extra outside kitchen with barbecue is for guests only. We are happy to answer all your questions about the beautiful environment and the possibilities it has to offer. The spectacular, diverse landscape ranges from eucalyptus, pine and cork oak forests on the lower slopes, with tracks climbing up to heather clad hilltops where you have breathtaking views. The area is wonderful for serious walkers. After your walk or ride take the chance to relax by the pool, or go for a swim in the river which flows just 100 metres from the apartments. In your apartment you will find a dossier with all necessary information.
